Nationally touring psych rock band founded in Norfolk, VA by my twin brother and I and a group of high school friends. From Bonnaroo, Firefly, and SXSW, to dingy basements, frat parties, and dive bars; we saw it all. Indie band turned mid-major label band turned back into indie band. The music industry picked us up and spit us out. It only made us stronger.
How it all began…
My twin brother, Neal, was always (and still is) the musical son. Piano lessions, flute, drums, guitar, singing… From a young age, music came naturally to Neal. Me, on the other hand… not so much. I somehow (regrettably) even weasled my way out of basic piano lessons. Despite this aversion to exploring the truth about my seemingly non-existant musical ability, I realized that Neal’s one-man band would surely someday grow into a (shitty) garage band, and maybe even a REAL (not so shitty) band. I wanted to be first in line when Neal went looking to surround himself with hot talent… I knew I had the upper hand if it came down to the wire with any potential suitors - we shared a womb for goodness sake.
The bass guitar seemed like my easiest way in - 4 strings, 1 note at a time - I could handle that. “You can do it, Cole”, I told myself. The rest is history. And it may seem a bit of a stretch to call it “history”, but I can officially call it that because someway, somehow we have a dedicated wikipedia page. If that ain’t rock n roll, I don’t know what is.
